City commences with road resurfacing in Rusthof, Strand

12 May 2022

The City of Cape Town’s Road Infrastructure Management Department will commence with the resurfacing of a section of Onverwacht Road between 8th and 12th Streets in Rusthof, Strand this coming week. The roadworks are scheduled to take place until 29 May 2022, if all goes as planned.

‘I am happy to hear of all the current and planned road improvement projects happening in the Strand area. The regular maintenance of the road network serving our suburbs is vital. Residents can expect to see the team on site over the coming week. We anticipate the resurfacing of this portion of Onverwacht Road to take approximately three weeks,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network and will take place from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 15:30. Traffic moving in both directions will be affected

Commuters are advised to be cautious and to lower their speed when approaching the construction site. It is recommended that road users consider alternative routes if possible.

Should anyone park in the vicinity and obstruct the maintenance work, their vehicles will be moved away.
